CEO/ Senior Agronomist

Responsibilities:
The CEO will be the Senior agronomist of a large-scale sunflower farming company and will be responsible for the comprehensive management and oversight of the company’s farming operations across approximately 2,000 acres of farms. This includes ensuring that daily operations run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest agricultural standards. The CEO will lead and supervise a team of agronomists and a large workforce of farm laborers, coordinating their efforts to ensure the successful execution of all key farming processes, such as land preparation, cultivation, clearing, harrowing, planting, and harvesting.
The CEO must also anticipate and address potential agricultural challenges, including growth issues, pests, diseases, and the effective use of pesticides and insecticides. Strategic planning is essential, as is ensuring that all farming operations align with the company’s long-term goals, emphasizing productivity, sustainability, and profitability.
In addition to operational responsibilities, the CEO will oversee budget planning and ensure financial discipline by identifying cost-effective solutions to optimize operations. The role involves regular financial reporting to company directors.
Qualifications:
10 years or more of experience working in big farms 1000 acers and above
A degree in Agriculture / Farming / Machinery or related degree
Deep knowledge and understanding of the Farming process (preferably sunflower farming and agriculture) i.e cultivation, harrowing, planting, seeds, pesticides, irrigation and operation of irrigation systems
Deep knowledge and understanding in farm equipment & machinery, tractors and
discs.
Knowledge and experience in market pricing and cost: renting & buying agriculture machinery, seeds pricing, labor cost, land cost, irrigation systems and water, electricity cost.
Managerial skills and experience, able to successfully manage employees, junior managers and farm labor on a daily basis to achieve best results.
Budget planning and financial management, strong ability to negotiate cost and prices in order to meet company budget goals.
Hardworking, honest, responsible and accountable.
Has a strong ability to see the big picture, plan ahead and understand company needs and goals.
Must be fluent in English, speaking and writing.
